Redmi K20 Pro vs OnePlus 7 Pro, Which is Best

Since the launch of OnePlus 7 Pro, Redmi has been teasing the OnePlus Team with it’s so-called upcoming Flagship Killer Redmi K20 Pro which started the story of ‘Vs’ to choose the best one of them. Well according to the market trend of early 2019, a flagship means a smartphone with a combination of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 as a processor and at least 6GB RAM. Thus, both the mobile devices are flagship smartphones however Redmi K20 Pro boasts itself as a Flagship Killer where ‘K’ from K20 stands for Killer. It is obvious that Redmi K20 Pro claims that it is better than OnePlus 7 Pro. So without further delay, let’s dive into the PIT.

Redmi K20 Pro Vs OnePlus 7 Pro

Both the flagship smartphones are very similar to each other in many aspects but there are many other things that differ and make both of the devices better than each other. First of all, we will discuss the similarities between them then we will move onto the Redmi K20 Pro Vs OnePlus 7 Pro and then we will decide which one to choose from.

SIMILARITIES : Redmi K20 Pro And OnePlus 7 Pro

Both of the devices have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (2.84Ghz) Octacore blazing fast 7nm chipset under the hood with raw 6GB/8GB RAM. So throw anything at these devices, they will crush it smoothly. Suited with Adreno 640 GPU, graphic and animation processing are amazing in both of the flagships. They are great for intense gaming and multi tasking. Literally, both of them are beast in performance. Scoring 388,803 at Antutu Benchmark, Redmi K20 Pro stands above OnePlus 7 Pro with only 369,902 points but these scores do not count for real so we can ignore it.
Both of them come with Android 9.0 (PIE) as operating system to deliver you some great enriched experience with optimized performance.

Camera and Connectivity

Both of the devices sport triple camera module at the back having huge 48MP Sony IMX586 Exmor RS primary sensor and the second camera sensor is a 127° ultrawide 13MP lens in K20 Pro but a 16MP lens in Oneplus 7 Pro. Since that doesn’t make a lot of difference so we will ignore it too. An 8MP telephoto lens with 2x zoom in K20 Pro and 3x in Oneplus 7 pro, is the third sensor. Again here the zoomed photos are nearly identical in both of the devices so this too does not count as a difference. As a result, both of the devices are capable of taking some amazing pictures with great details and bokeh effect. Both devices are capable of recording 4K videos at 30FPS.
Dual Nano Slot with Dual 4G VoLte Standby is present in both of the devices along with NFC and Bluetooth v5 for great connectivity with Bluetooth devices.

PopUp Selfie Camera

Both devices have front motorized Pop Up Selfie Camera which are fast and accurate while using face Unlock. Within a second the Popup camera comes out and authenticates the face for Face Unlock feature. Both of the Flagship claim to have a 300,000 Popup cycles for front camera which is more than enough. Even if you use it for 150 times a day, it will have a life of 5 years atleast
Though, the camera sensors are different in both the flagships. That we will see in Difference section.

Fingerprint Sensor and Battery

A blazing fast underdisplay optical fingerprint sensor is used for unlocking the device in both of the flagships. It takes almost 0.3 seconds to unlock the device just like physical fingerprint sensors. Technology is developing real fast. Both flagship use a 4000mAh Li-Polymer battery with USB type-C charging port with fast charging support. However, Redmi K20 Pro uses 27-Watt Quick Charge 4 and OnePlus 7 Pro uses 30-Watt Warp Charging Technology. And believe me both of the devices take almost same time to charge 50% of the 4000mAh battery i.e. 20 minutes.

DIFFERENCES: Redmi K20 Pro Vs OnePlus 7 Pro

OnePlus 7 Pro offers a 6.67-inch edge curved AMOLED full-screen display with 2K resolution (1440×3120 pixels, 516ppi) having a refresh rate of 90Hz for stunning display quality and smooth user experience. Whereas, Redmi K20 Pro has a 6.39-inch full screen Super AMOLED Full HD display with 1080×2340 resolution having 403 ppi and 60Hz refresh rate. Though the OnePlus 7 Pro offers higher refresh rate and has a superb 2K resolution screen but it costs lots of power consumption than Redmi K20 Pro but that can be dealt with the 30-watt  Warp Charger. It should be noted that OnePlus 7 Pro is the first smartphone to offer 90Hz display in the world.

Both of them has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

OnePlus 7 Pro offers a gigantic 12GB RAM DDR4 which is a kind of overkill but still K20 Pro goes upto 8GB of RAM. So OnePlus 7 Pro comes in 12/8GB/256GB and 6/8GB/128GB variant. However, K20 Pro offers a 6GB/64GB variant along with 8GB/256GB or 6/8GB/128GB variants. Both of them do not support memory expansion. Also, OnePlus 7 Pro comes with UFS 3.0 which allows user to transfer data upto 1.8 times faster and lets applications to load at faster rate.
OnePlus 7 Pro offers Oxygen OS with superb stock android experience which is better than MIUI of Redmi K20 Pro.

Front Selfie Camera

Having same motorized popup mechanism for front shooter, OnePlus 7 Pro has a 16MP camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture while Redmi K20 Pro has a 20MP camera with f/2.2 aperture. Though K20 Pro has more pixels but OnePlus 7 Pro offers better image quality and bokeh effect

Video Recording

OnePlus 7 Pro can record 4K videos at 60FPS whereas Redmi K20 Pro limits at 30FPS.

Redmi K20 Pro can record Superslow Motion videos in 1080p at 960FPS but OnePlus 7 Pro limits at 480FPS.

3.5mm Headphone Jack

Yes, 3.5mm headphone jacks still exist and Redmi K20 Pro has it. Unfortunately, OnePlus 7 Pro does not have a 3.5mm port instead it offers a Type-C to 3.5mm converter to use wire headphones which is a shame.

Water And Dust Proof

OnePlus 7 Pro claims to have a water and dust proof resistance though does not provide official certification for price cut.
Sadly Redmi K20 Pro lacks Dust and Waterproof body. But that depends on choice

It is the most important difference in both of them that makes Redmi K20 Pro definitely a flagship killer. The base variant of OnePlus 7 Pro starts at ₹48,999 for 6GB/128GB variant, ₹52,999 for 8GB/256GB variant and ₹57,999 for 12GB/256GB variant.
Whereas Redmi K20 Pro will reportedly be launched in India at a base price of ₹25,000 for 6GB/64GB variant, ₹27,500 for 6GB/128GB variant, ₹30,000 for 8GB/128GB and ₹32,500 for 8GB/256GB.

Which one to choose

After comparing Redmi K20 Pro vs OnePlus 7 Pro, its really hard to choose the best one, as K20 Pro offers almost the same thing which OnePlus 7 Pro offers at a cheaper price yet OnePlus 7 Pro offers premium quality with premium features. If one is cash strapped or want to go only for mid-range price slab, they should definitely go for Redmi K20 Pro without having a second thought as it offers better battery life, stunning pictures from both rear and front cameras and a headphone jack. Whereas OnePlus 7 Pro offers a great curved screen with smooth display performance, a great User Interface and superb cameras, water and dust proofing and premium built quality. If price is not an issue, you should choose OnePlus 7 Pro above Redmi K20 Pro. So wait till K20 pro is launched in India and decide for yourself which suits you better.
